Child's Play

What Is Child's Play?

Since 2003, Child’s Play has been a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in their network of over 70 hospitals worldwide.

With cash donations, they purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.

Where Does DMR Come Into Play?

Digital Mayhem Radio will donate to Child's Play at the end of each and every Calendar Month, based on the number of Total Listening Hours (TLH) we receive. Using a calculation, we have assigned each Listening Hour (LH) a monetary value. At the end of the month, we determine our TLH, and calculate the amount of money it is worth, then donate that amount to Child's Play.

  • Is there a limit to how much DMR will Donate per Month? - Yes. That limit is set by our Broadcast License. We are covered for a maximum TLH per month, and if we exceed that, our expenses increase exponentially, as such we set the maximum donation, at our maximum TLH.

  • What Hospital(s) will DMR's Donations be helping? - Child's Play supports over 70 different Hospitals Worldwide. As DMR is heard in over 90 Countries, this is a fitting match, and we will not specify an individual Hospital.

  • If I stay Tuned In to DMR longer, will the amount DMR Donates be higher? - Yes. Every Hour every Listener spends Tuned In to DMR goes towards the TLH, thus increasing our Donation Amount.

  • If I leave DMR Running while I am not at my Computer, will that contribute? - Yes and No. We make our revenue by selling ads. If listeners are not actually hearing the ads, the advertisers lose their Return On Investment (ROI). Once that happens, they will no longer advertise with DMR, and our revenue will go down. If this happens, then we have to change our Donation Calculation. That being said, it's best practice to only leave DMR running if someone is actually there to enjoy it.

  • If DMR reaches it's Maximum Donation Level for this month, will my Listening Hours still count? - No, but your Listening Hours will earn Royalties for the artists of the songs we play, and you will be supporting Free & Independent Internet Radio.

  • How much money does DMR actually Donate? - The amount we donate is based on a Calculation using our TLH and our Revenue generated from the TLH. It is also capped by our maximum TLH as defined by our Broadcast License. We do not release the actual dollar amounts, but we do provide a Progress Bar on our Tune In Page, and at the top of this page.
